Some places don’t just catch your eye—they take over your senses. Dinant is one of them.
Set along the banks of the Meuse River and backed by steep cliffs, Dinant feels like it belongs in a storybook. We spent just a day here, but what a day it was—overwhelming in the best way possible.
Our adventure began with the iconic cable car ride up to the Citadel of Dinant. As we ascended, the view unfolded in layers: the river winding gracefully below, the town’s charming rooftops, and the grand silhouette of the Collegiate Church of Notre Dame framed against the cliffs. The fort itself was a deep dive into history. Standing atop, you get a sense of the centuries this town has witnessed—wars, resilience, and life flowing just as steadily as the river beneath.
After the fort, it was time for something Belgium does best—beer. Dinant is the birthplace of Leffe, and tasting it here felt almost ceremonial. Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, the Leffe we sipped seemed to capture the very essence of Dinant—refined, strong, and lingering. The flavour stayed with us long after the glass was empty.
The rest of the day was spent wandering, capturing the charm of Dinant in a collection of photos we’ll treasure forever. The saxophone-lined bridge, the vibrant riverside cafés, the quiet corners tucked behind stone buildings—all of it came together in a way that was both peaceful and exhilarating.
Dinant may be small, but it leaves a big imprint. One day was enough to fall in love, and not enough all at once.
